Information about Iraq


 The Republic of Iraq consists of 19 governorates. This country is located in the Middle East, and is bordered by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran.


 Baghdad, Nineveh and Basra are among the most important governorates in Iraq, with a total area of ​​438,317 square kilometers. The terrain of this country varies from wide plains to marshes and mountains, and its climate is mostly desert with cold winters and snow in the mountains.


 The total population of Iraq is more than 38.4 million, and the country's capital is Baghdad, which is at the same time the most populous city in the country, with a population of 8.1 million residents.


 The country's largest airport is Baghdad International Airport (SDA), which records an approximate annual passenger traffic of 3.7 million people. This airport links Iraq with regional destinations in the Middle East as well as select European airports.


 The Iraqi culture is dominated by Islam as 98% of the population is Muslim, the official languages ​​of the country are Arabic and Kurdish, and its legal system is a mixture of Islamic law and civil law.


 The form of the state and the pattern of government in Iraq is a federal parliamentary republic, and the current president of the country is the elected President Barham Salih, and the head of government is Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and elections are held in Iraq every 4 years.


 Iraq's official currency is the Iraqi dinar.  Its current exchange rate is about 1459 dinars to the US dollar.


 The state manages the economy in Iraq, and the gross domestic product of this country amounts to about 733 billion dollars, and the per capita income is 13,817 dollars. The bulk of the Iraqi GDP is generated by the services and industry sector, as 85% of the country’s revenues come from industry  Oil. The main products exported by Iraq are: chemicals, textiles, wheat, barley and rice.


 The Republic of Iraq has many natural and culturally unique attractions for tourists to explore. This country has a total of 4 sites registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and a large part of Iraqi tourism is religious tourism for Hajj. The main tourist destinations are: Erbil, Ur, Basra and Hatra.  and Babylon.  The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, also offers a variety of museums and galleries that showcase the history and natural beauty of the country.


 Iraq is still struggling to attract tourists from outside the region, as there is still a general security concern about it, which is why many governments advise their citizens not to travel to it.




Iraq's passport is currently ranked 110 according to the Guide to Passport Ranking Index, and ranks as the second lowest ranked passport in the world.


 The Iraqi passport allows its holders the ability to travel without a visa to 26 countries only, including Sri Lanka, Dominica, Madagascar, and Seychelles.  Submitting supporting documents for the application, such as the documents required to prove the availability of the necessary funds to cover travel expenses, as well as the availability of a return ticket.  This gives it a very low overall mobility.




Iraq passport arrangement


 The order of the Iraqi passport in relation to the passports of other countries of the world is determined by calculating the total number of countries that allow Iraqi passport holders to enter without a visa (i.e. countries that citizens of Iraq do not need a visa to travel to) in addition to the countries that allow Iraqi passport holders to enter  Either by obtaining a visa on arrival or by obtaining an electronic travel authorization.  There are currently 6 travel destinations where Iraq passport holders can travel without a visa, 20 travel destinations that grant citizens of Iraq a visa on arrival, and 1 travel destination that citizens of Iraq can travel to by obtaining an electronic travel permit.


 In all, Iraq passport holders can enter a total of 26 travel destinations – either without a visa, with a visa on arrival, or with an electronic travel authorization.  Based on these results, the Iraqi passport ranks 110th in the world.


 On the other hand, there are 202 travel destinations for which Iraqi passport holders need to obtain either a physical visa or an electronic visa in order to travel to (ie, the countries to which the visa is required to travel).
